Further Education – Pathways
Studying at the College is a small step that will support your child for life after Year 12. There are many pathways and opportunities: TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment or university degrees.
TAFE
TAFE colleges offer numerous courses in a variety of industry areas. Courses and their entry requirements can be found on the Department of Training and Workforce Development’s website (https://www.dtwd.wa.gov.au/).
Applications for TAFE courses are due mid-September each year.
University Entrance
WACoA Narrogin offers one-to-one mentoring towards university pathways through both General and ATAR courses. Universities offer a range of courses which may require an ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank), and others which can also be accessed through General courses at A grades, with Certificates II and III being an added advantage. Students can check the entry requirements for courses on the universities’ websites.
Curtin, Edith Cowan and Murdoch universities all offer the courses that past students from WACoA Narrogin tend to favour: Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Agribusiness, Nursing and Education. Closing dates for students applying for university courses is usually the middle of September each year.
Most universities also offer alternative entrance pathways for students directly upon completion of Year 12 and also as mature-aged students later on in life.
