Authority-developed Work Place Learning (ADWPL)

Every student from Year 10 – 12 is expected to engage in Work Place Learning. Traditionally this occurs in Term 3 for the Year 12’s and in Term 4 for Years 10 and 11.

For 2024 onwards for the Year 11 and 12 students, their Standards and Curriculum Authority Developed Endorsed Work Placement Learning (ADWPL) will be linked to students being able to gain between 1 and 4 C grade (unit) equivalents towards gaining their WACE (Western Australian Certificate of Education) at the end of Year 12.

For each block of 55 hours of Work Placement (WPL) completed, students will also complete one logbook and one Skills Journal. This will equate to 1 C grade equivalent (unit) towards gaining their WACE.

Over the course of Years 11 and 12, students have the opportunity to complete at least 120 hours of WPL which equates to 2 units towards WACE. Some students in 2023/4 completed enough hours to cover 3 units.

The completion of ADWPL is also a prerequisite for SCSA VET awards at the end of Year 12.

WPL also allows our students to access a range skills and knowledge which increases their industry currency, provides them with extra referees for their resumes and often leads to offers of apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships and traineeships, leading from WPL, will be collectable data from the 2024 graduates.
