This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2023 Please note: The salary level for this position will be determined after the successful applicant is assessed as addressing all eligibility and selection criteria indicated in the relevant attached JDF in the context of the outcomes and selection criteria described. The highest rate an applicant can start at as a L1 is Level 1.4 (as negotiated with the principal). However, applicants may still be able to commence at a L2.1 or L3.1 if suitably qualified or with requisite experience. Level 2, $64,172 – $69,256 per annum (PSCA 2021) Level 3, $72,896 – $78,717 per annum (PSCA 2021) WA College of Agriculture (WACOA) – Narrogin is seeking a dedicated Farm Workshop Technical Officer, who is passionate about working with young adults in an agricultural education environment. About the position The successful applicant will be required to have knowledge, experience, and competency within agricultural farm machinery operations and mechanical, knowledge, experience and competency for the servicing and maintenance of vehicles and equipment commonly used in broad acre farming systems. Experience in broad acre cropping and / or livestock operations is desirable but not essential. The successful applicant will ideally be a dynamic and friendly staff member who takes pride in supporting the education of students in a farm setting. To be successful in this role you will have experience in agricultural systems relevant to those on offer at WACOA Narrogin and have an interest in working with young people. Experience in a training environment for secondary students Year 10 to 12 would be desirable though not essential. The successful applicant would be expected, and assisted, to achieve qualifications necessary for the role if they didn’t already possess them. Commuted overtime is part of this position, which will support weekend farm duty as required on a roster system. About the school The WACOA – Narrogin (Established in 1906) has a long and proud history of servicing the agricultural community of Western Australia. Narrogin is the oldest Agricultural College in Western Australia. Students in Year 10 to Year 12 enrol from all over the state and the majority board on site. The college is located 6kms from Narrogin with good schools to year 12, hospital, medical, recreational, and shopping facilities as it is a regional centre. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
