2017 HARVEST WORKER WANTED

UDENOAKS FARM - DOWERIN/GOOMALLING AREA

We are looking for a young employee to drive our chaser bin for the coming harvest, with the possibility of staying on for FULL TIME WORK in 2018.

Applicant must have tractor driving experience, have a current drivers license and their own vehicle to drive to and from work. Experience with sheep is preferred but not essential.

Accommodation is available in a farmhouse on the farm, but food and packed lunches must be made by the employee.

Applicant will have to be available for work from 20th October through till Christmas. Wage will be in the range of $20-$22/ hour depending on experience and knowledge.

OUR BUSINESS - Our property is on the border of the Dowerin and Goomalling shires, approx 18km from Dowerin and 24km from Goomalling. Harvest 2017 will consist of 3500 ha's of wheat, 800 ha's of barley, 1450 ha's of canola and 550 ha's of lupins. We also run 2000 merino and crossbred sheep.

JOB OPPORTUNITY

A mixed farming enterprise employment opportunity is available for a young, energetic and motivated individual with good communication skills, a willingness to learn and a positive attitude.

The 4000 ha family farm is located south of Merredin. It consists of 2200 breeding merino sheep and mixed cropping program of wheat, barley oats and lupins. The main machinery for cropping and harvest is GPS equipped. A hay making program is also an integral part of the farm work with up to 1000 large square bales made per year. Farm duties also include mechanical servicing and repairs and metal fabrication.

The farm is well equipped with machinery and tools to do all tasks required.

The successful applicant will have sound knowledge of theory and very good practical skills.

The current position is for a general farm hand seeking long term employment. Future senior farm hand prospects and a possible managerial position will be made available to the right person.

On the job training will be provided but it is also expected that the applicant is able to use their initiative and work unassisted at times. An ability to follow instructions and take advice is paramount.

Comfortable accommodation is available on farm in the form of a new 2 bed transportable house.
